We do things differently

15 years ago, Viridi began with a simple but ambitious question: how could we coat heat-sensitive materials like wood without relying on traditional paints and lacquers containing VOCs?

The experimentation with an advanced UV Curing powder coat paint technology led to the development of a more sustainable approach to coating wood. By replacing conventional liquid paints and lacquers with a powder-based system, Viridi offers the potential to significantly reduce the environmental impact associated with coating processes, while maintaining the performance, durability and aesthetic quality expected for a modern finish.

Health Benefits

Indoor air is three times more polluted than outdoor air, and according to the EPA, is considered one of the top 5 hazards to human health. Paints and finishes are among the leading causes.

Paints and finishes release low level toxic emissions into the air for years after application. The source of these toxins is a variety of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which, until recently, were essential to the performance of the paint.

Powder coated materials have the following associating health benefits:

  • No delayed emissions causing health side effects
  • No free monomers
  • No odour
  • Reduced risk of sick building syndrome
  • Powder Paint contains no lead
  • Antimicrobial function
